Lucy Ivanova

Lucy Ivanova is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, land art, video, and textiles. Her practice explores the relationships between color, narrative, personal experience, and contextual influences.

Her work has been featured in notable group exhibitions, including Unfolding Landscapes at The Art Center Silkeborg Bad, Denmark (2022), Plazza Ukraina at the Venice Biennale (2022), and Pink Exhibition at White World Contemporary Art Centre, Kyiv (2021). Since 2016, she has been a regular participant in the Mohrytsia International Land Art Symposium.

In her artistic process, Lucy draws inspiration from nature and her real-life experiences, transforming them into her unique artistic vision. Her method involves multiple approaches, blending narrative, painterly aesthetics, and balancing abstraction with reality.

Reflecting on her creative journey, Lucy describes a pivotal moment: "The greatest success for me as a painter is when you paint for a long time, and then, sometimes through despair, there comes a magical moment - the loss of control over the canvas.

And then everything works out. How this happens is a mystery that draws me to painting. I am a rational person, but painting is something pleasant to lose control over."
